Personal brand
People buy from people.
Every booking starts with the same silent question: "can I trust this person?" A personal brand answers it before they ask. It's not vanity - it's the most valuable asset a small business owns, and it's built from things you already have.
Trust is the whole game
A client choosing between two nail techs isn't comparing price lists line by line. They're comparing how each one feels: whose work they can see, who looks established, who has a face and a name they can find again. The one who looks legit gets booked - at a better price, with less haggling.
You already have the raw material
Your years of work, your finished looks, your regulars, the way you talk about what you do - that IS a personal brand. Most small businesses just never put it anywhere a stranger can see it. The asset exists; it's the shop window that's missing. And word of mouth now ends with someone typing your name into a phone - if nothing solid comes up, the recommendation dies.
Social proof beats advertising
An advert says 'trust me'. A page full of your real work, your TikToks, your reviews from real customers says 'see for yourself'. One is a claim; the other is evidence. Evidence converts.
What credible looks like online
A face and a name
People trust people. A real photo of you outperforms any logo for first-contact trust.
Proof of work
Photos and videos of your real work - sets of nails, fresh cuts, before-and-afters. Recent, plentiful, unpolished is fine - real is the point.
Signs of life
A page updated this month says 'we're busy and trading'. A page from 2023 says the opposite.
Other people's words
Reviews from real customers, displayed where the next customer will see them.
Easy to reach
A number that's one tap away. Every extra step between 'I'm interested' and 'I've called' loses people.
